Overview
Communa is an 11-storey BTR community managed by the operations team at Canvas Living, set in the middle of Woolloongabba, one of Brisbane’s most character-filled inner-city pockets. Residents enjoy a full gym, a pool, movie nights in the media room and regular outdoor events around the podium BBQ area. Every detail is designed to help people connect and feel at home.
A Single System for a Busy Community
The Canvas Operations Team needed one system to bring resident profiles, bookings and day-to-day operations together in a single place, one that was intuitive enough to pick up quickly, without losing the capability to keep up with a building as busy as Communa.
Canvas Living rolled out Generator’s Resident App and Operations Platform across Communa to bring the whole resident experience, and the team running it, onto one system.
For residents, the app becomes the front door to the building. Having one place to check availability and book a space takes the guesswork out of using the amenities. Maintenance requests go in with a few taps instead of a phone call or an email. With special services like cleaning, the app turns those into something residents can arrange in seconds rather than through a separate conversation with the building manager.
The Generator team has been with us since Day 1, helping us get everything set up, including our events, resident profiles and maintenance systems.
Having the app has made things so much easier, from managing all the back-end tasks to helping us create a really warm and welcoming community here at Communa.

Helping Residents find Connection
Communa was built around the idea of “space to make life happen,” which means putting just as much focus on community as on the apartments themselves. The app gives Canvas Living a direct channel to keep residents in the loop on what’s on, from a poolside catch-up to a BBQ area booked out for a birthday.
With the operations platform, the Canvas team gets a clear read on what residents want more of, whether that’s fitness sessions or a regular social night in the media room. It’s a small shift, but one that’s helped the team turn the building into more of a community, not just a place to live.
The Canvas App makes it totally effortless to book amenities or stay up to date. It removes all the friction of needing to remember where that form is!
The app saves me a stack of time, especially with tricky things like logging a maintenance request. It’s super easy to see where things are up to without having to chase them up.
The Canvas App also helps me connect with my neighbours, with special things like events being posted. It makes it so natural to know what’s happening in the community.

What’s Next for Canvas Living
As Canvas Living expands in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Communa offers a picture of what’s possible when a building’s technology works just as hard as its amenities.
